Whiplash Mk II, portrayed by Mickey Rourke as Ivan Vanko, is a character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). He is the primary antagonist in the film Iron Man 2 (2010), which marks the character's first appearance.

Vanko is a brilliant, albeit disgruntled, Russian physicist and engineer. He seeks revenge on the Stark family, believing they wronged his father, Anton Vanko, who co-created the arc reactor technology with Howard Stark.

In Iron Man 2, Vanko uses his expertise to build an arc reactor-powered suit equipped with electrified whips, becoming Whiplash. He attacks Tony Stark at the Monaco Grand Prix and later collaborates with Justin Hammer to create an army of drones, further challenging Iron Man.

Driven by vengeance, Whiplash poses a significant threat to Iron Man and his technology, ultimately leading to a climactic battle at the Stark Expo. Vanko's actions expose vulnerabilities in Stark's armor and force him to confront his family's legacy.
